Overview

Langtang Ganja-La Pass Trek is one of the most captivating and adventurous treks in Nepal, combining the beauty of Langtang Valley with the cultural richness of the Helambu region. Situated northwest of Kathmandu, this trek offers an incredible blend of snow-covered high passes, majestic Himalayan views, ancient monasteries, diverse wildlife, and vibrant Tamang and Sherpa cultures

The journey begins in Kathmandu with a guided sightseeing tour of its UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From there, you drive to Syabrubesi—the gateway to the Langtang region—and start trekking through charming Tamang villages surrounded by lush forests of rhododendron and pine. As you ascend through Langtang Valley, you’ll experience the warmth of local hospitality and explore Kyanjin Gompa, the most sacred monastery of the Tamang people.

The highlight of this trek is the challenging ascent to the frozen Ganja-La Pass (5130m), which rewards trekkers with panoramic views of the Langtang Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Ganesh Himal ranges. After crossing the pass, the trail descends into the serene Helambu region, passing through picturesque Sherpa settlements and ending at Melamchi Pul Bazaar.

Along the way, trekkers can witness an abundance of natural beauty—ranging from blooming alpine flowers to the elusive red panda within Langtang National Park. The trek offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and wilderness.
