Ghumnajaau was born from a shared passion for travel, friendship, and the Himalayas.
The journey began in 2008, when three friends—Nir Saru, Samde Sherpa, and Suresh Ghorasainee—met while studying Travel and Tourism Management at the same college. Even as students, they were deeply involved in Nepal’s tourism field, working as trekking and mountain guides and supporting adventure travel across the country.
Among them, Samde Sherpa grew up in a tourism-oriented family, with his father serving as a professional guide for many years. This early exposure shaped a strong respect for Himalayan culture, mountain ethics, and responsible travel. Alongside their studies, the trio worked as freelance guides, assisted tour operations, and managed adventure activities throughout Nepal.
At the same time, Nir Saru gained over three years of professional experience working with different travel agencies, trekking companies, and hotels. This helped him develop strong skills in management, hospitality, and corporate operations, which later became the backbone of the company.
After completing their bachelor’s degree, the three friends officially launched their first venture, Reflection Himalayan, in 2013 as a travel and trekking expedition company.
Following the devastating 2015 earthquake, they decided to pause, reflect, and redefine their purpose. This led to the rebranding of the company as Ghumnajaau—a Nepali word meaning “Let’s travel and explore together.” The new name symbolized unity, shared journeys, and a renewed commitment to authentic, local, and responsible tourism in Nepal.
After completing his MBA, Nir Saru took full leadership responsibility and now serves as the Managing Director of Ghumnajaau Pvt. Ltd., overseeing strategy, management, and business development.
Ghumnajaau is further strengthened by a passionate team of experienced and young guides, including Dipendra Budhathoki, Nurbu Sherpa, Bishal Reshmi, Roshan Saru, Santosh Saru, Anju Thapa and Rujan Neupane, who support ground operations and ensure meaningful travel experiences across Nepal.
