The Dhorpatan Trek with Gurja Khani offers an incredible off-the-beaten Himalayan experience in western Nepal. This moderate 10-day trek combines pristine natural beauty, traditional Magar culture, and the untouched charm of Nepal’s only hunting reserve. Starting from Pokhara and passing through Darbang, Sibang, Lulang, Gurja Pass, and Gurja Khani village, the route rewards trekkers with breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri and Gurja Himal ranges.

 

Gurja Khani, a hidden mountain village, sits beautifully at the base of Gurja Himal (7193m). The area remains unspoiled by modern influence, rich in local traditions, ancient copper mining history, and warm Magar hospitality. Trekkers also traverse Rugachaur Pass (3850m) and explore the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve (2870–3900m) — home to rare species such as the snow leopard, red panda, musk deer, and Himalayan goral.

Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, passing through picturesque hills, terraced farmlands, and riverside towns. Enjoy beautiful views of rural Nepal as you head toward the lake city of Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
