Overview

The Yeti Foot Trail in the Makalu Barun region offers an adventurous journey through one of Nepal’s most pristine and remote landscapes. Starting from Num, trekkers follow the trail through lush forests, terraced farmlands, and traditional Rai and Sherpa villages, gradually ascending to Tashi Gaon and further to Yangle Kharka at 3,600 meters. From here, the trail opens into the Barun Valley, a hidden Himalayan gem framed by towering peaks, glacial rivers, and rich alpine biodiversity. Trekkers spend time exploring the valley, discovering its unique flora, fauna, and untouched natural beauty.

The return route traces the famous Yeti Foot Trail, following the Barun Nadi (river) through uneven and rugged terrain, passing through remote settlements and dense forests. Along the way, adventurers may even spot legendary Yeti footprints etched into the stone. The trek concludes at Barun Dovan or Gola, where the serene river valleys and high Himalayan vistas leave a lasting impression. This trail is ideal for explorers seeking solitude, cultural immersion, and an authentic encounter with Nepal’s wild and remote eastern Himalayas.
