From the summit, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the majestic Himalayan ranges, including Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lhakpa. Our journey begins early in the morning at 7:00 AM with a pick-up from your hotel. We will meet at the designated meeting point and proceed with a scenic drive to Pani Muhan, Budhanilkantha, the starting point of our hike. The drive takes approximately 30 minutes.
If time permits, we will visit the Budhanilkantha Temple, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site featuring a magnificent reclining statue of Lord Vishnu encircled by coils of serpents.
Upon arrival at Pani Muhan, we will obtain the necessary entry permits at the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park entry gate. Our guide will assist you with ticket procedures and provide insightful information about the national park and its biodiversity.
After completing the formalities, our hike commences. The initial segment of the trail follows a dusty road before transitioning to steep stone steps as we ascend northeast towards Nagi Gumba. Or shortcut route from Helipad trail goes steep up stone steps through jungle trail. This route takes 1 hour more faster than via Nagi Gumba.
Nagi Gumba is a peaceful Buddhist monastery where nuns practice meditation and spiritual learning. It is also a popular spot for international visitors seeking tranquility. After approximately 2 kilometers of walking through lush, tree-lined paths, we will reach the monastery. Here, you can take a well-deserved break, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee from the local tea shop, and appreciate the serene ambiance along with the picturesque views of the Kathmandu Valley below.
The trail then continues with a steep incline toward Baghdwar—the origin point of the sacred Bagmati River—before reaching Shivapuri Peak. The path from the back of Nagi Gumba follows a series of stone steps heading north. Although the trail is straightforward, it demands considerable effort due to the continuous ascent.
After an invigorating climb, we reach Shivapuri Peak at an altitude of 8,963 feet (2,732 meters). From the summit, take in the panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and the majestic Himalayan range, including Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lhakpa. Enjoy a well-prepared, home-packed lunch while soaking in the breathtaking scenery and recharging for the descent.
After a refreshing break, we begin our descent. We will follow a shortcut trail down to the entry gate, where our private vehicle will be ready to transfer you back to your hotel or home.
We anticipate arriving back at your hotel around 4:00 PM, concluding an exhilarating day of hiking and exploration.
