Overview

Ramaroshan, proudly known as the “Crown Jewel of Achham”, is one of Far-Western Nepal’s most spectacular yet less-explored destinations. Resting at an altitude of about 2,500 meters, this highland paradise is the land of 12 mystical lakes and 18 lush meadows (Patans), making it an ideal destination for those who wish to blend adventure with cultural discovery.

The journey to Ramaroshan is as rewarding as the destination itself. After a flight to Dhangadhi and a scenic drive through Dadeldhura and Achham, a short hike leads you to breathtaking meadows where yaks and sheep graze freely. Surrounded by rhododendron forests that bloom in spring and backed by the snow-capped Api and Saipal ranges, the landscape feels like a natural masterpiece. The shimmering lakes, especially Jigale Lake, reflect the beauty of the skies and mountains, offering a tranquil space for meditation, photography, or simply relaxation.

Ramaroshan is not just about scenery—it is deeply tied to history and legend. Locals believe it is connected to the great epic Ramayana, and its very name is a blend of “Ram” and “Roshan.” Dotted with ancient temples, shrines, and traditional stone houses, this region also opens a window into the unique culture of the Achhami people. Visitors are often greeted with folk songs, dances, and warm hospitality that make the experience unforgettable.

For nature enthusiasts, Ramaroshan is a biodiversity hotspot. Colorful Himalayan birds, barking deer, and rare medicinal herbs thrive in this pristine environment. Whether camping under starry skies or staying in a cozy local lodge, the Ramaroshan Trek offers an experience that combines adventure, spirituality, and cultural immersion—truly a hidden treasure waiting to be explored.
