Humla Changla Valley Camping Trek – Remote Himalayan Adventure via Simikot
The Humla Chang La Valley (Nying Valley) Camping Trek is one of the most remote and culturally fascinating trekking adventures in western Nepal. Beginning from Simikot (2,910m), the headquarters of Humla District, the trail leads eastward through traditional villages such as Thehe and Dozam, following the scenic Chang River Valley. This lesser-known route passes through lush forests rich in medicinal herbs and wildlife, eventually revealing the majestic Chang La (6,900m) and a cluster of pristine alpine lakes surrounded by dramatic Himalayan peaks.
This is an ancient trading and herding route, once used by Tibetan caravans transporting salt and wool. Today, it offers trekkers an authentic wilderness experience far from the crowded trails of Nepal. The route loops through Limi Valley, known for its timeless Tibetan culture and centuries-old monasteries, before returning to Simikot via Kermi village, renowned for its natural hot springs.
As part of the Great Himalayan Trail (GHT), this expedition showcases the untouched beauty, living traditions, and resilient spirit of the Humla region. Guided by local experts who were born and raised in the area, trekkers can expect a safe, culturally immersive, and rewarding journey in one of Nepal’s least explored frontiers.
