The spring and autumn season that occur from March to May and Mid-September to November are the best month. You will witness a pleasant and clear skies over the mountain and valley. These season are dry and easier to walk on.

1. Spring Season (March to May)

Pre-monsoon or spring is the time when the cold from the winter (Dec, Jan & Feb) decreases and the temperature starts getting warmer and pleasant. As the foggy sky clears up, you will be able to get the magnificent sceneries. The trekking trail are most favorable with vibrant mixes of white, red, pink and offering a surreal experience along the trek. Spring is one of busiest time of year for trekkers in Nepal. 

Spring offers warm temperature, blossoming flora and temperate days for trekkers. It is preferred time to climbing eight thousands meter mountains for climber. During this season, Kachenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse are climbed due to the low winds at the summits and trek to the base camp of these mountains are also interesting at this time of year. The spring is also the best time to witness the wildlife of tropical land of Nepal like Chitwan, Bardia, Sukla Phant, Koshi Tappu. 

2. Summer/Monsoon (June to August)

This season brings the rain to Nepal so making the travel wet and warm. During this time of year is not highly recommended for trekking due to high temperature, more rains. This season is very rare to see the mountains cause of mountains are enveloped in clouds. 

The middle hills regions are covered with greenery, lunch vegetation and stunning flower which can capture the viewer’s heart at a glance. During this season are fewer tourist can be seen on the trail, obscured views and muddy trails and leeches are common at this time of year.  Monsson blesses some of north of the Himalayas of Nepal. Like Upper Mustang, Dolpa as these area fall under the shadowland so keeping it the out of range of the rain clouds. These area are rain shadowed, you can be visited at any time of the year. Place to visit are Upper Mustang & Lower Mustang, Dolpa, Rara Lake, Humla Limi Valley, Manang (Annapurna circuit, Na-Phu valley, Tilicho etc) and behind the Himalayas zone of Nepal. 

3. Autumn Season (September to November) 

Post monsoon or autumn season begins when the rain settles and the weather gets dry. And cold start rising the days become shorter. But again skies start to clear and you will get the best possible views. Most of the trekkers/ travelers prefer this time for Nepal as the trail are dry and it’s easier to walk. This season brings a stable high pressure (16-24C during day time), offers clear skies, sunshine, warm days and cool nights. During this time numerous trekkers and climber are arrived in Nepal. And festivals begins and make a city and country side pretty interesting as they are decorated with all the possible glitz and glamour. Hotel, lodge and tea houses are busy due to more travelers available. Pre-booking are required as the hotels en route will be fully packed. 

4. Winter Season (December to February) 

Winter season brings snow that sprinkles over the mountains making it great for viewing the snowcapped peaks. However the severe weather makes it more difficult to reach destinations. Most of great mountains base camp like Everest Base camp, Annapurna base camp trek, panoramic views can be done at this time of year. During this time we can see still remain clear offering views of mountains. Fewer trekker are available on the trail. This time is the perfect for photographer with fresh snow on the hills. But weather is cold temperature (9-12 C only in day time) and evening can drop to sub-zero temperature. High passes trek like Everest Three passes, Annapurna circuit, Manaslu circuit are usually closed at this time due to heavy snows. The winter is also good time for travelers who are looking to explore the cities of Nepal. With proper planning and gear, customs can be make trekking wonderful.
