Three royal cities, two world-famous stupas, a cable car ride to 2,551 m and a night in Nagarkot for sunrise: all in five easy days, with one private vehicle keeping your family together. This tour is planned for families who want Nepal’s culture without the stress of arranging transport, hotels and transfers. Stay in Thamel and Nagarkot, travel at your own pace, and let Ghumnajaau handle the logistics. Tell us your family’s interests and we will adjust the plan before you book.
A Ghumnajaau representative meets you at Kathmandu airport and takes you to your hotel in Thamel. Rest after your journey, or take an optional evening walk through Thamel’s shops, cafés and markets.
After breakfast, visit Swayambhunath, the hilltop stupa with views across the valley. Continue to Chandragiri Hills and take the cable car to the summit (tickets paid separately; operation depends on conditions). In the afternoon, explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, including Kal Bhairav, Kumari Ghar and the museum, subject to opening hours. The Kumari’s appearance follows the permitted viewing schedule and cannot be guaranteed.
This is a full day, so an early start is recommended.
Walking: light to moderate, with steps at Swayambhunath
Visit Pashupatinath, then Boudhanath Stupa, then Patan Durbar Square with its Newar courtyards and temples. In the afternoon, drive to Nagarkot and check in to your resort for a quiet evening in the hills.
This is the busiest day. Travelling with young children or prefer a slower pace? Ask for the relaxed option, which shortens or swaps stops.
Rise early for sunrise and Himalayan views over the hills. Visibility depends on cloud and haze, so a clear morning is a bonus rather than a promise. After breakfast, drive to Bhaktapur to explore its squares, temples and brick lanes, then return to Kathmandu. Use your free time to relax or shop.
Have breakfast (subject to your flight time and hotel serving hours) and transfer to the airport. We suggest leaving the hotel at least 3 hours before an international flight.
Sightseeing order may change with traffic, opening hours, weather and local conditions.
