Travel through dramatic highways, deep river gorges, alpine forests, and traditional communities while discovering the beauty, spirituality, and raw adventure of the hidden Karnali region.
The Karnali Road Trip is a remarkable adventure into Nepal’s most remote and culturally rich western region. This journey combines spectacular Himalayan scenery, hidden valleys, historical landmarks, alpine lakes, dense forests, and authentic village life into one unforgettable experience.
Starting from Kathmandu, the journey heads toward the peaceful plains of Lumbini before gradually entering the rugged landscapes of Karnali Province. The road passes through Surkhet, Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla, Sinja Valley, and Mugu, revealing dramatic changes in geography, climate, and culture. One of the major highlights is the visit to Rara Lake, located inside Rara National Park at nearly 3,000 meters altitude. A really excellent and responsive service from Nir and the team. I was introduced to them via an old friend in Kathmandu whose family has used them for >15 years. I would highly recommend Ghumnajaau to anyone based on our own excellent experience. They helped us book a bespoke family trip across Nepal, taking in the wildlife of Bardiya, road trip in Karnali, a light trek in Pokhara and more. All the arrangements were spot on. Hotels and guides were just what we wanted. Excellent communication with Nir throughout the trip, even over the New Year public holidays when we needed to change some arrangements with a car. I would unreservedly recommend Nir and the team at Ghumnajaau to anyone wanting a responsive, relaible and trustwirthy travel agent in Nepal. Thanks for making it a memorable trip!
