This remarkable journey enters the Everest region through a scenic road drive to Salleri, avoiding the Lukla flight at the start. The trail gradually climbs through lush forests, river valleys, and traditional Sherpa settlements before entering the high-altitude world above Namche Bazaar, the gateway of the Khumbu region.
The route unfolds dramatic contrasts dense pine forests, suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, and finally barren alpine landscapes surrounded by towering peaks like Mount Everest (8,848m), Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
The Gokyo Valley introduces turquoise glacial lakes, while the Cho La Pass connects two iconic routes into one epic circuit. Every step offers raw Himalayan wilderness, glacier crossings, and breathtaking viewpoints like Gokyo Ri and Kala Patthar.

Early in the morning, we depart from Kathmandu and drive toward Salleri via Ghurmi on a private jeep. The journey passes through scenic hills, rivers, and rural settlements. The road becomes progressively rough after Okhaldhunga.
After breakfast, we drive to Kharikhola/Tham Danda by jeep. From here, we begin our trek through forested trails and small villages toward Paiya.
We begin trekking through dense forests, traditional villages, and river valleys alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Lunch is usually taken at Ghat before continuing to Phakding.
The trail follows pine forests and crosses several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. After entering Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, we ascend steeply toward Namche Bazaar. Weather permitting, views of Everest and Lhotse appear near the final climb.
A rest and acclimatization day in the main Sherpa town of the Khumbu region. Optional hikes include Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village. The area offers excellent views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and surrounding peaks.
We climb toward Khumjung ridge and descend into the Dudh Koshi valley. The trail offers cultural insights into Sherpa settlements and passes through forested sections and river valleys.
The trail ascends gradually through rhododendron forests, waterfalls, and alpine terrain. We pass villages like Dole and Luza before reaching Machhermo.
We ascend into the Gokyo Valley with views of Cho Oyu and surrounding peaks. The trail passes Phangkha and climbs the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier before reaching the turquoise Gokyo Lakes.
A challenging morning hike to Gokyo Ri offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Optional hike to Fifth Lake (Ngozumpa Tsho) depending on fitness and weather conditions.
A short but important trekking day across the Ngozumpa Glacier region. The route prepares us for the Cho La Pass crossing.
One of the most demanding sections of the trek. The trail involves steep ascent, glacier crossing, and rocky terrain. Weather and ice conditions may make this section challenging.
A relatively short and scenic trek along alpine trails with views of Lobuche Peak and surrounding mountains.
We trek through the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to reach Everest Base Camp. The area is surrounded by towering peaks and expedition camps (seasonal). Return to Gorak Shep for overnight stay.
Early morning ascent to Kala Patthar for the best panoramic view of Mount Everest. After sunrise photography, we descend to Pheriche for rest.
We descend through rhododendron and juniper forests, crossing suspension bridges and passing through small settlements. Wildlife sightings are possible along the way.
A long descent with several suspension bridge crossings over the Dudh Koshi River. The trail gradually levels out as we approach Lukla.
Early morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. Free time for rest, shopping, or sightseeing. Farewell dinner in the evening.
